      Tie beam setting has an important effect on the stability of continuous rigid frame bridge with double thin -wall piers. Firstly, basic principle of the stability analysis of the overall bridge is introduced .Then first order instability mode is given under the maximum double cantilever stage of construction stage and under operation status of finished stage .Finally, the influence of tie beam number , position and stiffness on first order elastic stable coefficient is discussed in detail .The research results indicate that it is reasonable to set one tie beam for high pier about 100 m, which position should be set in the middle of pier .The tie beam stiffness should not be set too large , and the ratio of tie beam stiffness to single limb stiffness set in 10%~30%is an opti-mal scheme.Research conclusion also provides important reference for high -pier’s tie beam design.
